A technique involving a localised externally applied  lymphatic drainage of the ‘central nervous system ‘ , the drainage techniques are supported by GENERAL OSTEOPATHIC TREATMENT , administered by a specialist OSTEOPATH trained by the founder DR RAYMOND PERRIN.   It was researched and designed for the treatment of ME/CFS .  DR PERRIN  had his first ideas for this treatment after treating a cyclist who had a very curved and stiff back and consulted Dr PERRIN for CHRONIC fatigue  ME/CFS.   After a series of treatments the cyclist recovered and so was born DR PERRINS INTEREST in this debilitating disease.   It took around 13 years and many amany client before DR PERRIN finally concluded his initial research and gained a PHD .  Dr PERRIN is a qualified OSTEOPATH and is now working as a SCIENTIST as well as practitioner.

The Perrin Technique rather contraversially involves the use of lymphatic drainage of the ‘BREAST TISSUE’ , there is always controversy with direct contact of this kind , however its an essential part of of the treatment and appropriate management and consent is maintained . The rest of the technique involves back massage, neck and head massage and cranial release techniques, this further helps with drainage and relaxes the body (reduces sympathetic tone) Patients respond well to treatment although the first reactions are the reverse and can be very acute .  The technique also involves treatment with ice packs and encouragement of gentle movements throigh the spine.

To generalise DR PERRINS research identifies ME/CFS as  a reduction in lymphatic drainage caused by a short circuiting effect of the nervous ssytem through adrenal overload and the mechanisms of stress . TRAUMA to the pathway of the lymphatic system ie surgical techniques such as breast reduction and augmnetation as wellas abdominal surgery can also cause problems.    The slowing down of the lymphatic system leads to a reduction in immunity and collection of both exogenous and endogenous toxins in the body .  THESE TOXINS have multiple effects throughout the body disturbing the central nervous sytem even further.

DRAINAGE , REDUCTION OF SYMPATHETIC TONE , NUTRITIONAL SUPPORT AND CELL REPAIR, POSTURAL  CHANGE , INCREASE IN MOBILITY

All lead to improved health although treatment may last from months to years .  It may be necessary to support this treatment through professional NUTRITIONIST support, SELF MANAGEMENT/REFLECTIVE TECHNIQUES , RELAXATION and support from the GENERAL PRACTITIONER or MEDICAL SPECIALIST  to medicate where necessary and apply NICE guidelines where possible
